The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is low-cost, often leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving.
But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually pushed up the cost of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has come into sharp focus.
In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one organization is taking advantage of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing profitable too, already their client-list consists of McDonald's.
